How to Solve Common Hair Problems
Do you feel like you have a bad hair day every day? You may be surprised to learn that most people feel the same way. Everyone seems to have at least one major complaint about their hair. Even people with amazing hair have their share of hassles. Most hair complaints fall into one of just a few categories. Here are a few solutions for the most common hair problems.
Dry Hair
One of the top complaints when it comes to hair is dryness. When you think of all the bad things most people subject their hair to, it’s not much of a surprise. Chemical treatments, heat tools, and frequent washing result in brittle hair that is stripped of its natural oils. So what’s a girl to do? The first thing you need to do is give your hair a rest. Reserve the flat iron for special occasions. Let your hair air dry and look for a style that complements its natural shape. Even if you do this only temporarily, it can be enough to help get your hair back on track. Try to space out your hair colorings or look for gentler alternatives like henna. If your hair is extremely dry, you need to use a deep conditioner once a week. You should also consider spraying on a leave-in conditioner after each washing to help protect your hair. You can add moisture using argan oil, jojoba oil, or even olive oil. Many hair treatments contain alcohol and drying ingredients so stick to these natural oils if you can.
Oily Hair
Oily hair is another common complaint. When your hair is oily, it can be a neverending battle to keep greasiness in check and have hair that looks clean. If you’re tired of washing your hair every day, you might want to use a powder shampoo. This can cut your morning routine in half because you don’t need to get in the shower, wash, dry, and style. Instead, just shake in some powder, comb it through, and watch it soak up the grease. You should substitute a clarifying shampoo for your regular shampoo once a week to get rid of buildup in your hair from your usual products. This residue tends to draw dirt to it, making oily hair look even dirtier. An occasional rinse with beer (yes, beer!) can also help.
Frizzy Hair
Frizzy hair can be a frustrating problem. Even the tiniest bit of moisture in the air can cause your hair to get frizzy. Unless you live in an area with 0% humidity, there is little you can do to avoid frizzy hair. If you’ve tried serums and have been less than pleased with the results, it’s time for something more natural. Pure coconut oil works wonders for frizzy hair. Apply the tiniest amount to the ends of your hair while damp, then dry as usual, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how smooth your hair stays throughout even the most dreary weather. You can also treat you hair once a week with olive oil or mayonnaise. If you blow dry your hair, be very conscious of directing the air flow downward away from the hairfollicle; this can make a really big difference in how smooth your hair turns out.
You don’t have to live with troublesome hair. Treat your strands well and your efforts will be rewarded. Always avoid chemicals whenever possible. Read labels and avoid sulfates. Be sure to use heat sparingly. Think of your hair as an important part of your body that needs to be healthy. Your hair doesn’t have to be a hassle if you implement some of these solutions.
